Announcing a New Pastoral Intern

THIS PAST YEAR, WEFC INITIATED a Church Planting Residency Program designed to develop, empower and release potential church planters throughout New England. This past September, our first resident, Steven Durgin, began the program. David Rucquoi will be the second candidate to engage in this demanding initiative.

Prior to assuming our residency position, David and his family were 22-year members of Hope Evangelical Free Church, in Wilton, CT, where he was serving his fourth (non-consecutive) term as an Elder. David has a Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University, an MBA in Marketing from Pace University, and recently completed a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Alliance Theological Seminary.

David worked more than 16 years in corporate America before a crisis led him to become a stay-at-home dad. For the last 15 years, he has managed a small business and a commercial property, renovated his home, raised his three children, volunteered on soccer, baseball and softball teams, Boy Scouts, Young Life, school programs, raised guide dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and supported his wife's dreams under the title, pronounced by his then-7-year-old son, "The Pastor at Home."

David and his wife, "Jo" (Josephine), now have a 22-year-old son (Jacob) studying education at Cairn University, a 20-year-old son (Ben) pursuing music production and seeking to transfer from Houghton College to Berklee College of Music (where he recently was accepted), and an 18-year-old daughter (Jesse) studying international development at Houghton College. Before their children left for college, David and Jo hosted three sisters as foster children. After two years, the girls returned to their birth family. Now, as "empty nesters," David and Jo are continuing their pursuit of the next steps of a vision they shared at the altar 27 years ago: to serve the Lord together through the local church. This time, the Lord is calling them to pursue a pastoral ministry.

David and Jo currently live in Darien, CT, and share the excitement of a season of development and growth with the WEFC leadership and family, as they prepare for the calling of ministry.

Watch for upcoming opportunities to welcome and get to know David and Jo.
