Congregational Meeting Report

ONCE AGAIN, we were able to utilize technology to host our quarterly congregational meeting. Over 50 people participated virtually and about 25 were present in the sanctuary. We would like to thank Pastor Mike, Nathaniel Pearson, and Jim Knorr for all the work they did behind the scenes to accommodate us during this time.

While there was not anything to vote on, there was some important information shared with the congregation.

Financial Report: It was reported that our giving compared to last year for the first quarter of the fiscal year was down 15% in the general fund and 30% in the missions’ fund. We are grateful that both funds were able to meet their expenses. The greater concern was expressed for the missions’ fund given that the reserves accumulated at the end of the previous fiscal year were depleted this quarter. The congregation was encouraged to remember our missions fund and designate all gifts for missions as “missions fund.”

COVID Response: We were happy to report that starting next Sunday we will be open to 50% capacity, receiving up to 100 people for Sunday morning service. The following instructions were given:

  • You need to pre-register before attending. Register here.
  • We will continue to social distance, wear masks and usher you to your seat
  • We will use the sanctuary, balcony, and fellowship hall to accommodate 100 people
  • Enter the building through the back doors and registration will be in the hallway leading to the kitchen
  • If you would like to volunteer to be on the rotation for greeters, ushers, or medical team to assist us, please contact Pastor Mike.

Special Rules for Final Vote on the Revised Constitution and Bylaws: It is our goal to vote on the Revised Constitution and Bylaws in April 2021. To ensure both congregational input and an orderly process, the Executive Board has put forward special rules to guide us in this process. The Special Rules were presented at our meeting and will be voted on for approval at our January meeting.

The Special Rules include:

  • Submitting proposed motions in writing to the bylaw committee by March 1, 2021
  • Any amendment to a motion to amend will be submitted to the clerk in writing during the congregational meeting
  • The maker of the motion will be given 5 minutes to make their point and a representative from the Executive Board will be allowed 5 minutes to respond. Any member of the congregation will be allowed 3 minutes to speak.
  • At the close of the debate a representative from the Executive Board and the maker of the motion, in that order will be given 2 minutes to speak.

In the meantime, the congregation was encouraged to review the current draft of the constitution and bylaws and to feel free to give their input and suggestions now. They can do so by reaching out to the bylaw committee at

It was also announced that two WEFC Conversations on the Constitution and Bylaws are scheduled for Sunday, November 15, and January 10 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.

The Members of the Bylaw Committee: Maria Greenslade, Don Jensen, Steve Keller, Steve Peery, and Pastor Scott
