Pastor Scott - Sabbatical
MY SABBATICAL WILL BEGIN ON JUNE 11 and I will be back in the office on July 16.
First of all, let me say how grateful I am to receive a sabbatical. It is one of the many ways WEFC has taken care of me and I don’t take it for granted. So “thank you” for investing in me in this way.
I would like to share with you what I will be doing on my sabbatical.
First of all, I do plan to rest. I am entering this sabbatical feeling tired and I look forward to stepping away from my weekly responsibilities. Bonnie and I will be going to the Bahamas for 12 days on June 14. I will be preaching at a church there for two Sundays. But there will be plenty of opportunity for us to rest during this time. Hopefully there will be some time for golf!!
I am also looking forward to taking some time for spiritual refreshment. Not having to deal with the daily and weekly responsibilities will allow me to linger more in my devotional reading and prayer. I always find this time to be spiritually nourishing and refreshing, helping me to gain perspective with how God is leading me.
I also plan on working on a few projects.
- Next steps in moving towards elders and deacons
- Sermon Series for the Fall
- Outline for writing a book on discipleship based on the Gospel of Matthew
Let me remind you that this summer we will be walking through the book of James on Sunday mornings. Pastor Mike, Pastor Ryan, Steve Peery and I will be taking turns preaching through this practical book. The series will begin on Sunday, June 17.
If God brings me to your mind, keep me in prayer. Ask that God would use this time to refresh me and prepare me for what he has in store for WEFC in the next season of ministry.
