Our Beliefs

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing, and as the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21)

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (II Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 28:19; Deuteronomy 6:4)

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate. (John 1:1; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:35; I Corinthians 15:3, 4; Hebrews 4:14-16; I John 2:1)

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men; regenerate the believing sinner; indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. (John 15:26; John 16:8, 13)

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin, and is therefore lost, spiritually dead in trespasses and sin. (Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 64:6)

We believe that the death of Jesus Christ by the shedding of His blood and His resurrection provides the only ground for justification and salvation. Further, only through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. Only those who receive Jesus Christ as Savior are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become the sons of God. (Romans 5:17-21; Ephesians 2:4-9; Hebrews 9:14, 22; John 1:12, 3:3)

We believe in the imminent, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that this "blessed hope" is a vital motivation for godly living and fervent service within the believer. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:11-13; Acts 1:11)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead: of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. (Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-44; Revelation 20:11-15)

We believe that the true Church is composed of all persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been born anew by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ. Thus, the local church is to consist only of those who are members of the true Church. (Romans 12:5; I Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 4:1-6; Acts 2:47)

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs. (Colossians 1:18)

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church. They are not to be regarded as a means of salvation, but as signs of faith, love, and obedience to our Lord. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:12; I Corinthians 11:23-26)
