Children's Ministries

“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me.” – Matthew 18:5 (ESV)

At WEFC, the mission of our Children's Ministry is to assist parents in teaching their children to know God intimately, grow in their relationship with Him, and show and share God's love with others. Children matter to God, and they matter to us! The friendly and dedicated people on our staff have a heart for children and delight in sharing the love of Jesus with them.

Summer Event

This year we are partnering with Camp Spofford to help kids grow in character, confidence and care for others through worship, Bible lessons, high energy games and more.

Sunday Mornings

Nursery - 9:30 am (September – June), 10:30 am (July - August)

In a safe and nurturing setting, babies and toddlers ages birth to 2 years play with toys, enjoy Bible-based story time, and are shown the love of Jesus at the earliest age. Additionally, a quiet room is available for sleeping infants and nursing moms. Our nursery staff works diligently to provide the best possible experience for the children as well as their parents.

Kids Communities:  9:30 am – 10:45 am (September – June)
Children's Church (ages 3-5): 10:30 am (July - August)

Kids from 2½ years old through 5th grade attend age-based classes to learn about God's Word, build relationships with their peers and teachers, and participate in creative games and activities. Classes are taught by men and women who are committed to invest in the lives of children.

Wednesday Evenings (September – May)

Boys Brigade  Wednesday  7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Boys in grades 1 - 5 have fun participating in games, activities, and Bible readings that will help them to grow spiritually, socially, physically, and mentally. More important than the program content, however, are the relationships developed with mature Christian men. We believe discipleship occurs in the context of these relationships as we strive to help each boy love God and love others.

GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) Wednesday 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

GEMS is the perfect place for girls in Grades 1 -5 to learn and grow as they discover who God created them to be. We want to help girls have a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ and to enthusiastically express their love for God and others. The women who work with these girls desire to mentor and inspire our next generation.

Child Safety and Protection

WEFC is committed to providing a safe place for children of all ages who visit our church and attend our classes. Under our Child Safety and Protection Program, all people who work with children are required to fill out a confidential written application which is reviewed by the Director of Children's Education. Further screening of staff is performed through interviews and background checks.

If you have any questions about our Children’s Ministry, Child Safety and Protection Program, or if you would like a copy of our security policy, please contact Sharan Crabtree, Director of Children's Ministries, or by phone at 860.563.8286 ext. 816.

Bright Beginnings Preschool

Bright Beginnings Preschool (BBP) is a Christian preschool with a big heart for little people and their families. The preschool was established in 1985, and is licensed by the State of Connecticut. At BBP we are "teaching the whole child," including development of God-consciousness, socialization, creativity and self-expression, language and thinking skills and a healthy self-image. Like the well-rounded child of Luke 2:52, "and Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man," our goal is to address the mental, physical, social and spiritual aspects of the students' young lives.

We welcome students from all walks of life and faith, yet always maintain our Christian atmosphere and perspective, "telling the whole Gospel." Our desire is that the children and their families know the love and care of the Christian community, as well as the Savior.
