    Sermon Series: Shepherds and Souls

PAUL EXPRESSED THE HEART OF A SPIRITUAL LEADER when he wrote to the church in Corinth, “I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls.”

First of all, this verse elevates our understanding of the church. The church is not just a building. Nor is the church a place we go to on a Sunday morning for a service. Rather, the church is the presence of God in this world. The church is the people of God. What we do as a church family, therefore, has an eternal impact “on the soul.” Is there anything more important than the church?

If this is the case, what kind of leadership is needed in the church? What has God established as a guideline for leaders in the church? What should you expect from the spiritual leaders at WEFC? Hebrews 13:17 indicates that your spiritual leaders “are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account.”

God established elders in the church for such a task as this. What instruction does God give for elders in the church? Who are the leaders of WEFC? What can you do to encourage them and pray for them as they assume this important role?

This series will help us learn how to better be the presence of God – the church – in this community.
