An Extraordinary God! An Ordinary People!

Do you ever feel that your life is rather ordinary and doesn’t amount to much?
Do you ever wonder whether God is using you to accomplish his good in the world?
Do you ever feel like you don’t have much to offer?

The Old Testament story of Ruth is a wonderful reminder of how God uses the ordinary to accomplish God’s extraordinary purposes.

God uses an ordinary girl like Ruth from the foreign country of Moab.
God uses the ordinary challenges and hardships of life to forge his purposes.
God uses the ordinary characteristic of loyalty to bring Boaz and Ruth together.

From this ordinary journey comes the lineage that leads to the extraordinary birth of Jesus.
From this ordinary journey comes the fulfillment of God’s redemption.

I hope our journey through Ruth inspires each of us to embrace our ordinary journey through life knowing that God is at work through our ordinary acts of loyalty.

It is the same thing Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:58. “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
